COLLECTIVE PURPOSE
We need to build better
A global market, new business models, and the pressure to become sustainable are presenting Australian industry with new risks and opportunities.
We need to find new sources of value. We need to manage risks better.
We need a level playing field. It's about finding a balance between the natural and constructed environments.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to the same thing. Information.
So that we can all build back better.
OUR STORY
BuildFit: Making it Easier to Build Back Better
Every time we make a decision to spend we are balancing costs and benefits, risks and opportunities, values and information.
Urbanisation, environment loss, and increasing consumption are putting pressure on natural resources. Digitisation, changing demographics and shifts in the global economy mean that we, in Australia, won't find prosperity in the ways that we used to.
So, we need to find new ways. That's why we came up with BuildFit, because making decisions is hard. We want to make it easier.
SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION
What Does it Mean to be Sustainable?
The United Nations' sustainable development goals aim to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. These 17 goals recognise that growth, human well-being and protecting the environment go hand in hand. They are the goals needed to meet out commitments and support a circular economy.
BuildFit makes it easier to achieve those goals in our constructed environment, here in Australia.

HOW DOES BUILDFIT HELP?
BuildFit reduces uncertainty. For everyone. At every point in the
decision-making cycle as we make, build and use. It also improves visibility
over the whole product life-cycle.
This is great for two reasons.
AUDIT
BuildFit raises the transparency across the supply chain for all stakeholders. Managers in charge of making decisions about procurement, sustainability and operation can support their decisions with more confidence and independent information. Investors and insurers can assess risk, designers can show value for money to their clients, consumers can check the claims businesses make and communities can take more responsibility and hold their governments to account.
INNOVATION
This transparency is also good for innovators. With comprehensive information about products and the wider market, businesses will be able to identify gaps in the market, see where value can be added and extract more value from materials and assets, at every point in the product cycle. It will also give policy specialists the information they need to design effective compliance frameworks.
GET INVOLVED
How can YOU help?
So far, we have drawn on the expertise and support of several companies to design and test the BuildFit concept and business model. We have a proof of concept, plenty of research and a pilot of the technology. A number of research and industry organisations have committed funds to kick-start the product.
But this is a big change and we all need to be moving in the same direction. After all, everyone lives in a building.
We'll be releasing information soon about how you can be part of bringing about sustainable change in our constructed environment.
